24-Hour and 40-Hour of HAZWOPER Training
Being properly trained to deal with hazardous materials is important for everyone’s safety. Some of the public employees that we train have gone through the 40-hour HAZWOPER training because they are likely to be exposed to hazardous substances over the permissible exposure limits and they are required to wear a respirator. It is important to understand this personal protective gear, the limits of the gear and how to properly use it.
The other option is to go through a 24-hour HAZWOPER training. This level of training is for people who will not be required to wear respirators and they will not experience hazardous substances over the permissible exposure limits. These workers will also not be exposed to sites that have the possibility of an emergency developing. Safety is important, but these workers will experience significantly less danger in their work environment.
