OSHA HAZWOPER Training & Other Safety Trainings By State

The Occupational Safety and Health Act covers most private workers in the fifty states and some public sector employees. It has been approved by OSHA, which monitors twenty-six state plan standards. The OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response HAZWOPER standard (1910.120) has five distinct groups of employers required to undergo training in order for their employees who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances or waste materials: construction, general industry, maritime operations, agriculture/forestry/fisheries industries; engineering services; mining and oil drilling activities. Many states have adopted the same standards as federal agencies within this area with some exceptions.
